With a good portion of cooler temps and above average rainfall in April, we’ve enjoyed a spring that has given us great beauty via blooming bulbs, trees and shrubs. Not to mention the magnificent effect on lawns. However, with most of the last full week of April seeing overnight temperatures in the lower 30-degree range with frost, it reaffirmed why we recommend waiting to plant annuals or vegetables that aren’t cold hardy. Hopefully, the overnight temperatures will be kind in the beginning of May, without a frost or freeze.
If you haven’t yet applied your DIMENSION pre-emergent crabgrass control with slow release, long lasting fertilizer, do it immediately. DIMENSION controls both ungerminated and recently-germinated seed. May is a terrific month for controlling perennial broadleaf weeds in lawns, like dandelions, clover, plantain, and many more with a single application of liquid broadleaf weed herbicide. May is prime time for work around our homes, on lawns and in garden beds. The weather’s beautiful and the days are long, so get to it.
Our Turf Management division is now well into its spring season. The weather’s been a challenge with all of the rain in March and April, but we are working hard to stay on schedule. For those of you who want our superior turf management team to take over your lawn treatments this year, we’ve still got the ability to squeeze you in if you act immediately. We’re still accepting requests for estimates on regular maintenance applications (starting with broadleaf weed control) and special applications (core aeration/lime).
