Dry as a bone. That’s the best way to describe the weather for September this year. Until today (September 25th) we have only had .26 inches of precipitation in Doylestown. It seems every time there’s been a chance of rain in the forecast, what we’ve gotten is immeasurable or missed us all together. Heading into October, let’s hope that Mother Nature works in our favor and sends us some much-needed rainfall. Slow, steady, soaking rainfall to get grass seed growing and help drought-stressed turf recover. That said, there isn’t a lawn that won’t benefit from reseeding in our area. Rain will come and grass seed will germinate. If your lawn needs seeding, the sooner you get it down, the better. Stop by to discuss your situation with our friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Garden Center is ready for you! Look no further for top quality grass seed, fertilizers, herbicides, and all the tools, gardening and birding supplies you might need. Until October 20th, we will continue to be open every day (Mon. – Fri. 8-6, Sat. 8-5, and Sun 9-3). After October 20th, we’ll still be open every day, but will close at 5:00pm on weekdays.
Make no mistake; this growing season has been devastating for shrubs, trees, perennials, and groundcovers too. Check out the Landscapes section for more in depth information on aiding the recovery of your valuable plants. If you’re looking to replace or add perennials, shrubs and/or trees to your yard this fall, take advantage of our Fall sale at 35% off the regular price! We still have a great selection of plants for just about every situation. Plus, add instant color and interest to your yard, porch or patio with colorful mums, asters, pansies, ornamental cabbage, kale and peppers and fall grasses! We also have lettuce, spinach, broccoli, basil, parsley and more. So, stop by and get into fall mode.
The Turf Management group has been hard at work fertilizing, treating weeds, core aerating and overseeding since before Labor Day. The dry conditions have made it tough, so some meaningful rainfall would really be appreciated! If you have received a proposal for fall seeding work, there is still time to activate the quote and get the work done this fall. And, of course, if any of you who are not yet Lawn Depot Turf Management customers might like to consider joining our program, either for services this fall (WINTERFEAST application, core aeration and liming) or 2025 services, please call us (215-348-5553), or find us online (www.lawndepotinc.com) and select “Request an Estimate”.
