September brought ideal weather for lawns and plants recovering from summer stress: just the right amount of rain and comfortable temperatures. Lawns responded well to early fall fertilizer, weeds absorbed fall herbicide treatments and disappeared, core aeration delivered strong results, and newly sown grass germinated quickly and is becoming established. Meanwhile, colorful mums, asters, pansies, and fall-blooming perennials are replacing the annuals that brightened our beds and planters throughout spring and summer. As October begins, everything looks terrific. Hopefully, Mother Nature will continue to provide ideal planting weather.
There’s Still Time for Fall Lawn Care
If you haven’t yet embraced the “Fall Is for Planting” season, you’re not too late to complete these lawn-care tasks and achieve great results before the 2026 growing season ends.
Feed your lawn. If it hasn’t been fertilized since spring and looks a little thin or pale, apply Lawn Depot’s organic-based, slow-release fertilizer now. Follow with our high-nutrient WINTERFEAST fertilizer around or after Thanksgiving to encourage deeper, denser roots and a greener start next spring.
Control weeds. Apply fall weed control now while perennial weeds are still actively growing and can readily absorb the herbicide.
Overseed promptly. There is still time to overseed if you act quickly. Warm soil, mild temperatures, and roughly two months remaining in the lawn season create excellent fall growing conditions.
This is an especially busy time of year for Lawn Depot Turf Management. We’re wrapping up our early fall applications for weed management and fertilization while continuing core aeration and overseeding so seed is sown at the ideal time for the best possible results. We’ll also begin our late-fall WINTERFEAST feedings soon. If you’re not yet a Lawn Depot Turf Management customer and are interested in fall services—including WINTERFEAST applications, core aeration, and liming—or services for 2027, call us at 215-348-5553 or visit www.lawndepotinc.com and select “Request an Estimate.” We’ll evaluate and measure your property within a few days, then email your estimate or mail it upon request.
