Finally, it’s spring! At times, with all of the snow and cold, we wondered if it would ever arrive. Everything had a delayed start, but spring is at long last making a grand entrance.
April ushers in longer daylight hours, warmer temperatures, and regular rainfall. There is always a great deal to do as things get growing. All sunny lawns must be treated with crabgrass pre-emergent. Broadleaf cool weather weeds must be treated before they spread. Lawns, shrubs, and flowering trees benefit greatly from a feeding as the growing year gets underway. It’s a great time to plant perennials, roses, trees and shrubs, as well as cold crop vegetables and pansies. It’s also imperative to stop insect damage on trees and shrubs before it starts with a systemic application for control of chewing and sucking insects.
After a delayed start to the season, Lawn Depot Turf Management has been on the road for a few weeks, making our rounds with our first application: early spring fertilizer, pre-emergent crabgrass control, and cool season broadleaf weed control. We’ll continue with the first regular application through the end of April, along with our spring core aeration jobs. If you received a proposal for lawn service that you haven’t yet activated, rest assured that you still have time to get on board for the full year’s program. But please hurry, we’re scheduling work now, and wouldn’t want you to miss out on the first application. One of our turf professionals will be out to your property as quickly as possible, measure and evaluate the lawn, and email you a proposal.
