Although we have had some small rain events, as of October 29th we have only had 1.25” of rain this month (according to measurements taken at the Doylestown Airport). On average in our area, we should receive approximately 3.2” – 3.75“of precipitation during the month of October. So, as you can see, we are woefully behind. Here’s hoping that we catch a break in November and Mother Nature sends us some much-needed rain to catch up. Much like last year any lawn or yard activities result in a dust bowl. Plants that haven’t received any supplemental watering are showing signs of wilt, browning leaves and defoliation. Water any plants that are exhibiting these signs, even if they are established. Likewise, anything planted this season needs supplemental watering to become well established. Water is key to their survival. If you have the ability to water your lawn, shrubs, young trees and perennials, do so now! Watering deeply even just once a week can make all the difference. Feel free to contact us with any questions or for guidance in regard to watering.
Lawn Depot Turf Management has now begun its last regular application for the season, WINTERFEAST fertilizer, which we expect will continue until around Thanksgiving. We’re also finishing up with late core aeration jobs, and finishing up with our late fall liming jobs. It’s really been a terrific year for the Turf Management group, with just enough cooperation from Mother Nature to keep our lawns and landscapes looking good. We appreciate your tremendous loyalty and support as we close out the 2025 season. Any of you who would like to consider using our premium Turf Management service for the full annual program in 2026 (or late fall applications this year), are encouraged to either give us a call (215-348-5553) or visit our website (www.lawndepotinc.com) and click on “Request an Estimate.” We’ll evaluate your lawn shortly and send out your 2026 proposal shortly after the New Year. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Lawn Depot’s Garden Center is open every day through the end of November (Monday through Saturday 9am – 5pm and Sunday 9am – 3pm), after which we’ll be closed on Sundays, beginning December 1st. We are OPEN all winter; please visit our website for our most current days and hours of operation from December through February. There is still much to do in yards and gardens before winter sets in. The garden center is fully stocked with WINTERFEAST Turf Food. Apply this most important feeding of the year anytime between now and mid-December for subtle greening and significant root and crown development. Don’t forget to give your perennials, shrubs and trees their fall feeding with Espoma Organics’ Holly-tone, Tree-tone, Evergreen-tone or Plant-tone (Now 30% off through November 15th). Our Nursery yard is offering attractive end-of-season pricing at 45% off the regular price of perennials, shrubs and trees. Our lawn, garden and landscape experts are ready and waiting to assist you all year long. We love discussing your needs and objectives with you and helping you achieve your goals. Come on in; there’s still work to do and time to do it.
This will be our last NEWSLETTER of 2025. We extend a hearty thanks to all of you, from those who have been long and loyal patrons to those who have just discovered us, for making The Lawn Depot a meaningful local business for so long. We look forward to seeing you during the winter months for birding items, repellents, plant protection, ice melt or whatever winter-oriented products you take on. From all of us at The Lawn Depot, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!
