I was driving around Bucks and Montgomery Counties recently as I was preparing to write this newsletter. The first thing that came to mind was how absolutely gorgeous this region is in May. Between the lush green lawns, the beautiful spring flowering bulbs, and the myriad flowering shrubs & trees, this area is truly magnificent in the spring; that’s all there is to it. Another thing that puts me in a better mood this spring is that our Garden Center is open for business. Last spring, we were all in lockdown due to the Corona virus. Although we’re not totally out of the woods yet, I am hopeful that normalcy (in whatever form it presents itself) is just around the corner. I hope you all share my hopefulness; we’ve got a lot of fabulous spring weather to enjoy.
Lawn Depot Garden Center is open every day (Mon. – Fri. 8-6, Sat. 8-5, Sun. 9-3). It is overflowing – both inside and in the Nursery Yard – with fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, tools, annual flowers, vegetables in full growth and bloom, and beautiful perennials and small shrubs. All for your evaluation and purchase.
We are approaching the last frost date (May 20) for Planting Zone 6, so it’ll be safe to plant all annuals in the ground shortly. It’s already plenty safe to plant annuals in containers, boxes, and other above-ground planters as long as you’re able to protect them in case of a freak cold overnight. It is prime time for controlling broadleaf weeds in lawns, still time (if you hurry) for application of DIMENSION crabgrass control, time for spring feeding and insect control on trees and shrubs, and for mulching beds. Mulches (many types, in bags and/or bulk) are available for pickup at the store or delivery. It is prime time for work around your homes, on lawns and in beds; the weather’s beautiful, the days are long, so get to it.
Our Turf Management division is now well into its spring season. The weather’s been good for us so far; we’re on schedule with our jobs, and we’re still accepting requests for estimates. We offer regular maintenance applications (starting with broadleaf weed control) and special applications (core aeration/lime).
