May 2019

April has come and gone with no real extreme weather to deal with. It’s been on the cool side for most of the month, but no snow, only one light frost, and normal rainfall. All in all, it’s a very good start to spring!  Certainly, compared with last year, with all its rain, this has been heaven.  Mother Nature has been awesome, with extremely long blooming periods for bulbs, and flowering shrubs and trees, because of the lack of heavy frosts or extended periods of unseasonably warm weather. Lawns were a bit slow to get growing because of the coolish weather, but they’re lovely now and growing like crazy. And, because of the unbelievable rainfall all last year, we’ve got LOTS of weeds on lawns that weren’t treated last fall with TRIMEC. If there is a sea of dandelions on your lawn this spring, you probably forgot your September/October application of liquid TRIMEC. Now, with the danger of a killing frost almost behind us (mid-May in this area), we can get after all the rest of the spring gardening chores: planting, fertilizing, protecting, and mulching.

The Lawn Depot Garden Center is filled with all the gardening products and tools you’ll need to make your yards lush, beautiful, and pest-free.  Our Nursery Yard is filled with beautiful annuals and perennials in full bloom or bud, as well as magnificent ornamental shrubs. And our talented and friendly staff is ready to guide you and answer all your gardening questions.  The store is open every day, Monday – Friday 8-6, Saturday 8-5, and Sunday 9-3. Call (215-348-5553) or stop in and load up with the products and plants you’ll need to make your yards lovely.

Lawn Depot Turf Management has been working hard on their spring application work, and will continue to bring the highest quality turf care to our thousands of customers in Central Bucks and Eastern Montgomery Counties.  We’ve now completed our first round of fertilization and pre-emergent crabgrass control, and are busy with the second round of broadleaf weed control and fertilization.  We’re also busy with our spring core aeration jobs, and will continue with them as long as soil conditions allow us to pull 2”-3” plugs.  We continue to accept requests for quotations for lawn service from new customers, and requests from existing customers for additional work.  Although we can no longer offer crabgrass control applications, we can offer the remaining services for the 2019 season, as well as quoting for core aerating this spring. If you’re interested in any of our Turf Management services, you may stop by the store, call the office, or Request an Estimate, and we’ll be out as quickly as possible to evaluate your lawn.

Spring is here in full tilt. We hope you’re all ready and involved. We want to share lawn and gardening experiences with all of you and look forward to seeing you soon and often this spring.
